OUR HISTORY

Rev. Hunt founded the Body of Christ Community Church IN 1999. After 2 1/2 years and much prayer, he became the interim Pastor of New Life Community Church on the far north side of Indianapolis. He was hired by New Life after holding the interim position for nearly two years. He then combined both congregations and has been the faithful shepherd of New Life to present day.

WHAT IS A REFORMED CHURCH?

A Reformed church is a Protestant denomination, originating during the 16th-century Reformation, which emphasizes its doctrines and practices as being "reformed" according to the Word of God. Key beliefs include: salvation by God's grace alone through faith alone, the authority of the Bible, and Jesus Christ as head of the church, instead of the Pope. Reformed churches trace their lineage back to key figures such as John Calvin. Reformed churches are also commonly known as Calvinist churches.

OUR PROCLAMATION OF GOD'S WORD

At New Life, we have a declaration to Proclaim God's Word; book by book, verse by verse, and truth by truth."

We proclaim God's Word because his Word is inspired (God breathed), inerrant (without error), and infallible (never fails).

We proclaim God's Word book by book because all books of the Bible collectively and entirely speak of the authority and deity of Christ. The Old Testament books foretell of the coming Messiah and the New Testament books are the fulfillment of His coming.

We proclaim God’s Word verse by verse because we believe in the expositional (comprehensive explanation of scripture) teaching of the whole counsel of God. Each verse works together to provide context to the author’s intended message to its audience.

We proclaim God's Word truth by truth because the truth of God's Word divides. God's Word is to be handled with the utmost care for accuracy, being careful not to provide an interpretation based on one's own opinion. We are to rightly divide the truth; line upon line, precept upon precept. As we rightly divide the truth, Hebrews 4:12 states, the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL

The Gospel is the joyous declaration that God is redeeming the world through Christ and that He calls everyone everywhere to repent from sin and trust Jesus Christ for salvation.

Each of us has sinned against God, breaking His law and rebelling against His rule. The penalty for our sin is death and hell. Because He loves us, God sent His Son Jesus to live, for His people’s sake, the perfect, obedient life God requires and to die in their place for their sin. On the third day, He rose bodily from the grave and now reigns in heaven, offering forgiveness, righteousness, resurrection, and eternal blessedness in God’s presence and this free gift is available to everyone who repents of sin and trusts solely in Him for salvation.
