Rev. Andrew Hunt, III, M. Div.
Rev. Andrew Hunt, III, M. Div. holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Ministry from United Christian College and a Master of Divinity from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He is the father of three children, Andrew IV, Andrea, and Brandon and is the husband of one wife, Sandra, for over 47 years. After a distinguished career in upper middle management, in 1987 Rev. Hunt became the Executive Pastor for the largest Disciples of Christ Church in Indiana and was later appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). During his tenure as CFO, he wrote several grants totaling 5.5 million dollars which were used to erect a 50 unit apartment complex to house elderly residents and also started a juvenile delinquency ministry which served over 400 families annually.
In 1999, Rev. Hunt founded the Body of Christ Community Church. A church whose purpose was to help the entire Body of Christ as a multi-cultural church. That same year, Rev. Hunt and Ken Snyder co-founded the New Hope Great Banquet. During this spiritual retreat weekend, people are introduced to Christ and are renewed in their relationship with Christ. This renewal weekend also aims to support racial reconciliation in Indiana. To date, over 9,200 people have gone through a New Hope Great Banquet weekend and have gained life-changing experiences. In 2005, Rev. Hunt founded Abba Family Reunion; an interdenominational, interracial, summer celebration, with the inaugural reunion held in Mooresville, Indiana. The event drew over 1,800 Christians from all racial backgrounds. The then, Gov. Mitch Daniels, as well as former Mayor Bart Peterson, recognized this celebration as an event that all Hoosiers can celebrate.
Rev. Hunt became the Senior Pastor of New Life Community church in 2002. Recently, Rev. Hunt in reaction to the continual racial strife in our country, launched the program, “A Journey to Understanding.”
A Journey to Understanding is a Civil Rights Pilgrimage designed to bring multi-cultural pastors, inter-generational civic leaders, and churches together for an honest understanding of racial history in our country. Rev. Hunt believes the journey is one of the steps in dismantling racism at its core.
Rev. Hunt has been serving as a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Executive Committee (EC) since 2017 and has also served as the Chairman of the Missions and Ministry Committee. The SBC Executive Committee consists of 87 total members, each state having a selected member(s) serving as the state representative. Rev. Hunt is the only member on the EC from the state of Indiana.
